Expecting your first child and wondering how to navigate the family allowance system? It’s actually really simple: it all starts with applying for your one-off birth or adoption allowance, and then you are automatically entitled to receive monthly child benefit payments. No extra forms to complete. Easy, right? You only have to submit your application once, and Infino takes care of the rest.

How does child benefit work in Belgium?

As well as the one-off allowance for the birth or adoption of a child, families also receive monthly ‘child benefit’, or child support payments for each child in their family. Child benefit consists of a basic amount and a series of additional allowances. These allowances serve to help parents meet their family’s needs as well as possible and depend on factors such as the family’s financial and other circumstances.
