Want to plan your family holidays around school terms? Once your child has entered primary school, any school absences need to be officially declared to the school, using the appropriate form that the school will have provided to you.
Absences for holidays are not allowed, though international families may be able to negotiate leniency for family-related trips that cannot happen during holidays periods.

Here you can find the:
- Dutch-speaking community schools: 2022-2023 (and later) school holidays
Note that the school year in Dutch-speaking schools starts on 1 September and ends on 30 June. - French-speaking community schools: 2022-2023 (and later) school holidays
Note that as of the school year 2022-2023, schools run by the French-speaking community no longer follow the same school calendar as schools in the Dutch- and German speaking communities. - German-speaking community schools: 2022-2023 (and later) school holidays
Schools also typically have several closed days for teacher training, and should warn you about this at the beginning of the year when possible.
