Hello! I am Thainy Macêdo, Brazilian born and Brussels based since 2004.
80% of my clients are Brazilians, and that’s the reason why I mostly speak in Portuguese on my Instagram stories and social media in general.
My story as a doula started in 2016, after having my first child. At that time I realized how poor the regular childbirth preparations are and how some women get really mistreated during what is supposed to be the most beautiful moment of their life.
Seeing – and living – such a bad reality did hit me hard. A nonconformity feeling that made me awaken my consciousness and fired up my desire to become a Doula. I felt like I had to act in order to help change that system.
And so I did. During my Doula certification I had the pleasure and honor to support and inform 6 volunteer families through the entire birthing process: pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I could learn so much in such little time and was so inspired by all women I had worked with, that I even believed I myself could have a completely different experience on my second time giving birth than on my first one. And my dream came true in 2018, when I had the homebirth of my second child, with the best and most respectful care I could ever have.
But life happened and made me slow down my activity for a bit. It was time for me to stay home with my children, enjoying the beauty and the pain of a very long and difficult postpartum.
In 2021 I was back on my feet and able to work again supporting women during labor. It was a pretty insane year where so many babies were being born on my way, yet I was able to support all of those families even if in different ways: home births, emergency C-section, VBAC, pelvic babies, stillborn babies, miscarriages, postpartum traumas… Each family has a unique history, each baby is unique. But every family is looking for the same thing: being well informed, supported and respected in their decisions.
My work as a Doula has allowed me to connect with many midwives, gynecologists, psychologists and perinatal professionals, which together with so many families I have attended, gave me the opportunity to work in almost every hospital of the city of Brussels.
Throughout these years I could support and inform hundreds of families, and have helped in approximately 70 birth experiences.
My professional goal is to give each family that seeks my help, all the support and information they need in order to make the right choices for them, with confidence, during the whole birthing process. For some families it might mean seeing me once or twice during the whole pregnancy and postpartum, and for others, it might mean having my presence during all the birth procedures. Whatever the family’s necessity is, my work is to be there for and with them. Each family has different needs. And I am here to be the Doula you need and deserve.

Testimonials
“It is difficult to put words into so much emotions and eternal gratitude that come with the experience that we had with Thainy during the birth of our son. It was our first child, a very difficult labor in many respects and Thainy was an irreplaceable element in this journey. She was there from the moment that we needed her, throughout the most incredibly though moments during the birth, until Daniel was in our arms and sleeping like an angel. She provided us with an emotional, physical and mental support that I cannot imagine going through without. She helped me overcome my biggest fears, helped me tap into my emotional strength that my wife needed from me and helped me transform into a new man – a father and a better husband. Thank you Thainy!”

“Thank you for listening. For sharing your experience, making me feel understood. For helping me make a “postpartum plan.” For keeping track of my pregnancy. By being available on the phone while labor was still going on at home. For making my birth more humane, for holding my hand, for explaining to me and calming my biggest fears. For being there so that Danilo could go out to breathe. For ensuring that breastfeeding went well from the first moments of Joaquim’s life. By aromatherapy. By making this second postpartum lighter than the first. For taking care of this mother and this baby who have just been born. From the photos. By the look. For being this amazing doula and mom who inspires us. For helping me at the very beginning of mastitis, thus avoiding a trip to the hospital. By the more than wonderful Rebozo, of the gods. By being there, present. Thank you Thainy! For those who don’t know, my first experience wasn’t great… And Thainy came into my life when Jun was about 2 years old. First thing I thought about the second pregnancy was talking to her, and how it was worth it!! 🥰 May you continue to make a difference in the lives of many, many women. May God bless you Thainy.”
~ Carina, Jun and Joaquim’s mom
